Please, please, please, please, PLEASE tell me this is not the last book. Please tell me there will be more of this?? Especially with the way that ended? I mean, up to now it's been lots of fun BUT I NEED MORE AFTER THAT ENDING. I need the Gould and Sandburg Detective Agency LIKE I NEED AIR.

But maybe I should back up?? I have been wanting to read this book since it first came out, oh, back in September??? But I'm reading them through the prime reads program and I was stuck on another book. So I had to wait. (Which was HORRIBLE.) But after that wait, I was a little let down?? This one didn't quite captivate me as much as the first two. I love the characters but I wasn't super wild about the case.

The first two had very specific cases and really stuck right with them. Plus they were both fascinating. This case was kind of all over the place?? Plus I called the killer pretty much the second he walked through the door. (I didn't know how but I knew who it wasn't??) It was like there weren't enough distractions in this case to make it a total surprise. But maybe that's because the first two had cases that were really, really well done??

Sadly this one just didn't grab me and threaten to never let go like the first two. But I still love the characters and I would read literally anything they're in. And despite not really liking the case in this one, the book itself ended in a REALLY GOOD PLACE and it's definitely something I would like to follow. I would love to see where it goes and watch these characters grow and change after their lives changed so drastically at the end of this one.

So apparently I'm back to: PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T THE LAST BOOK.

If it is (though I'm calling that a very big if and will probably be in denial for several years if there isn't going to be another book; I'll be waiting and watching and hoping for more) then I've definitely enjoyed my time with these characters. They're fun and smart and what every detective duo should be.

I completely and totally recommend this series if you're looking for some good murder mysteries. As a whole, this series is great. I just felt like this one fell a little short from the last two. But, overall, it's a series I've really enjoyed. And I definitely think it's one others will probably enjoy too.
