Ransom Rigg's Library of Souls

Library of Souls - Ransom Riggs

A boy with extraordinary powers. An army of deadly monsters. An epic battle for the future of peculiardom.

The adventure that began with Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and continued in Hollow City comes to a thrilling conclusion with Library of Souls. As the story opens, sixteen-year-old Jacob discovers a powerful new ability, and soon he’s diving through history to rescue his peculiar companions from a heavily guarded fortress. Accompanying Jacob on his journey are Emma Bloom, a girl with fire at her fingertips, and Addison MacHenry, a dog with a nose for sniffing out lost children.

They’ll travel from modern-day London to the labyrinthine alleys of Devil’s Acre, the most wretched slum in all of Victorian England. It’s a place where the fate of peculiar children everywhere will be decided once and for all. Like its predecessors, Library of Souls blends thrilling fantasy with never-before-published vintage photography to create a one-of-a-kind reading experience.

So first off, I loved this book. It was a great ending to the series and I enjoyed it so, so much. I have so deeply enjoyed this adventure and I'm sad that it's ended but I'm glad it was such a great ride.

The only problem is that I couldn't remember bits of it? I've read each book when it was first published (or within a few months? I guess this is the one it took me the longest to get to) so that's been years between each one and I think I forgot quite a few key things. So I will definitely have to reread this whole series some day and read them all together so I can get the whole story sorted, haha.

But, anyway, some highlights from this one:

I WAS SO GLAD TO HAVE MISS PEREGRINE BACK. She is 100% my favorite character in this series and I missed her so much in the last one. So I was really, really glad to have her back in this one. Jacob and Emma are great but oh how I missed Miss P.

I also really loved all the new characters in this one?? Everyone they found while tracking down Caul and the Library of Souls were so great?? So I definitely enjoyed all of that.

I also enjoyed visiting all of the different loops (I mean, I know they didn't visit many of them. But I would honestly read an entire series just about different loops. That fascinates me to no end.) and learning more about the history of peculiars?? All of that backstory was FASCINATING. Especially in reference to the library.

So honestly I just really enjoyed this book and I think it was a really great end to the series. I have definitely enjoyed this ride and I can't wait to read it all again someday! And, as always, all the old photos were FASCINATING. So, wow, I'm sad this is over but I really had fun while it lasted. Highly recommend this series.

Oh also, I will probably never stop laughing about "who is that girl Jacob is kissing??" And Miss Peregrine's memory wipes using a feather. Ahhh. How I missed Miss P and her adventures!!
